Where He Leads Me I Will Follow

Where shall I go, dear mother?

Wherever shall I go?

With none but you could there be found

a welfare to bestow.

Where you wander I will wander,

where you lodge, there I will lodge;

your people will my people be,

your God will be my God.

And where you breathe your final breath

will be the place where after death

my flesh shall too be laid;

and may our God do so to me

if we should far asunder be

before you reach the grave.

--

Where shall we go, dear Savior?

Wherever shall we go?

In You alone could there be found

salvation to bestow.

Where you lead, Lord, we will follow,

in Your love we find true rest;

fellow sons of God the Father,

in Your mercy we are blessed.

The wrath for sin that we deserve

was laid on You, the living Word,

who put to death the grave.

With You we breathed our final breath;

united with You in Your death,

in You we shall be raised;

indwelt with power from above,

enjoined with God's eternal love,

nothing shall separate.

a meditation on Ruth 1:16-17,
