come now, my soul, and tread the slopes of God

forsake the paths that worldly men have trod

come, leave behind the lowlands of the fall

and heed with earnest steps the upward call

be not content to reach the foothill's height

nor wonder at the terraced ridges' might

press upward to the pinnacle of Grace

and penetrate the mists that veil His face

the alps of Christ, the Holy One, await

with heart and hand made pure, come by the gate

forsake the places worldly men have trod

and seek the country of the Most High God

inspired by the first three chapters

of The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer,

the wicket gate in Pilgrim's Progress,

and by the story of David Taaffe

titled from

"Jesus, Thou Joy of Loving Hearts"
