Sweet Will Be The Flower

Up swiftly spring the flowers fair,

whose scents and visage

grace the air:

in gaiety, my spirits light

and spreading wings of joy

take flight;

afar my soul besotted soars,

as earth Thy praise

each day out-pours;

unnumbered glories pierce my heart

and yearning's

pleasing sting impart:

with all my strength, my love to Thee

shall sweetly

ever-flowering be,

that further up its balms may wing

on holy zephyrs

to my King.

composed in an afternoon while

enjoying the beauty of God's creation,

with Psalm 19:1-4 & Luke 7:37-38 in mind
