Safe In Thy Keeping Tender

A day of spring in winter came,

an isle of warmth amid a sea of chill,

like sturdy stones set fast in line

to bridge a foaming torrent, not a rill.

So comes the Savior, unlooked-for

yet mighty in His love, to comfort me;

He lets the current rage at first

to prove HIs love's enduring surety.
