some have haunted eyes,
windows without light
do they know
where Comforts grow:
on the mount of crucifixion
at the feet of His affliction?
how, in grief, we contemplate our loss
in the Son of God upon the cross?
do they know
where Hope is found:
in Christ, where Grace and Love abound?
how Joy's pinions flutter in
to dance upon our sight
and usher in the ebbing of the night?
do they know
where Mercy springs:
from the grave with healing in His wings?
how by Faith in Him we too have died?
how through Him we shall be glorified?
all is vain, a striving after wind,
save if all our labors we rescind
are you weary, burdened, or oppressed?
come to Him, and He will give you rest;
Jesus: gentle, lowly, good and right,
His yoke is easy, and His burden light.

sounding out the wonder
of the comfort, hope, grace,
joy, mercy & faith that are ours in Christ
(Eccl 1:14, Eph 2:9 & Matt 11:28-30),
