He Breaks The Power of Canceled Sin

Thy sin, though canceled, shall this life

lie gnarled about thy feet;

fret not, my soul,

for, Christ be praised!

Secure is its defeat!

Keep watch and closely guard thy steps

and steady thou shalt be,

forgetting not that thou art prone

to stumble heedlessly.

And if, perchance, sin's tendrils snare

thy stride and bring thee low,

the Mercy Seat is ever near,

His grace to fain bestow.
