A Balm in Gilead

The spring once loosed at Calvary,

the aloe for my straints,

now blossoms in the Deathless Land

now slakes the world-worn saints;

In Zion's walls, Gihon swells up,

my fainting soul to cheer:

with Blood that speaks a better Word,

with Love that casts out fear;

Spring up! Spring up! O Fount of Life!

sweet mercies fresh shall ease

my aching thirst for Heaven's joys,

my longing for release!
